I have the hon. to ack.the receipt of
Sir W.J. Gascoigne's desp. No.402 of an &to
uit..and to inform you that I approve the new
scale of allowances proposed therein
Police officers who are members of the Fire
Brigade.
2. You will have observed from the a.
agreements of Police officers recently en-
gaged by the C.A. that the new sterling rate:
of pay have been inserted in their agreements
but that the various allowances, including the
Fire Brigade allowances, have been left at the
old dollar rates.
5. It will be convenient if
when ddvdidates the C.A. are next asked to
engage constables in this country they can be
supplied with a revised set of "Conditions of
Service", including these changes in the Fire
Brigade allowances.and any other minor chances
thatmay have been effected. A clause should al
so be inserted as to the hours of duty; and tit this clause might with advantage be so drawn
